Katalox-South American-very dark wood with tight grain
Wenge (Panga Panga)-African-
The sapwood is whitish, and the dark brown heartwood has fine, blackish veining.
Zebrawood-African-wood is pale golden brown to pinkish-brown usually with pronounced dark brown streaks.
Amboyna Burl-Southeast Asia-reddish brown burl that is a favorite for high end pens
Bocote-Tropical American
The heartwood is reddish-brown to dark brown with irregular dark brown and blackish streaks.
Black Palm-Tropical American-dark brown wood with distinct figuring
Bubinga-African-The heartwood is light reddish-brown attractively veined with pink or red stripes. The sapwood is paler in color.
Cinnamon-Far East-this wood has a bright color as you would imagine, nice contrast within the wood
Cocobolo-Central America-fine textured, dense wood that is highly favored for its intense colors
Paduak-Africa-this wood starts as a bright red but then fades to a warm brown with age
Red Palm-Tropical-this wood has a nice reddish-brown hue that is highlighted with streaks of brown
